Understanding the Global Ban Network

The global ban system is the heart of ScammerSlammer. Here’s how bans are shared safely, what triggers them, and how moderation integrity is maintained.

The Concept

When one server identifies a scammer, that user is dangerous to all.
ScammerSlammer’s Global Ban Network ensures that confirmed scammers can’t move freely between servers.

Each global ban entry contains:

  • Discord user ID
  • Username + discriminator
  • Avatar hash
  • Reason for ban
  • Moderator ID or source

Detection and Review

There are two ways a user can be added:

  1. Automatic Detection: The bot identifies known scam avatars, phrases or other internal detection methods and is added.
  2. Moderator Report: A server moderator runs /globalban and bans the users manually.

Reports are sent to our review system. Our team validates each one before it propagates network-wide. This ensures the system remains accurate.

How Propagation Works

When a global ban is confirmed:

  • The user is immediately banned in all connected servers.
  • Each participating server’s log channel receives a notification.
  • Future join attempts by the same user are automatically blocked.

Appeals and Mistakes

If someone believes they were banned unfairly:

  • Please refer them to this article Ive been banned
  • Or, a moderator can /unglobalban them directly.

Every appeal is manually reviewed by a member of the Phish Takedown team.
